6109R manual install

Aventurin{e} 6109R is best installed from our own ISO image, which you can download here.

However, if you already have a server running OpenVZ 7 and have installed it with one of the official OpenVZ 7 ISO's, then you can manually install Aventurin{e} 6109R on top of it.

Caveat Emptor

While this procedure can be done remotely by SSH, we strongly advise to be prepared that the server *might* loose its network settings when the service CCEd is started or restarted for the first time. Yes, we took precautions against that, but the possibility still exists and you should therefore be prepared to need direct console access in order to run /usr/sausalito/sbin/network_settings.sh to repopulate the network settings.

Install the YUM repository file

First you need to install the RPM that contains the Aventurin{e} 6109R YUM repository configuration:

rpm -hUv http://updates.aventurin.net/pub/Aventurin/6109R/EL7/aventurin/x86_64/RPMS/aventurine-yumconf-3.0.5-1.noarch.rpm

Install Aventurin{e} 6109R

Now that the YUM configuration is aboard, you can simply do a groupinstall via YUM:

yum groupinstall aventurine

Post install

When the YUM installation has finished please perform the following steps:

/usr/sausalito/sbin/cced.init rehash

That does a soft reload of the CCEd backend which the GUI uses. Then configure your network settings and do NOT skip that step, as it's important that the GUI is populated with your current network settings.

/usr/sausalito/sbin/network_settings.sh

For good measure restart CCEd once that is done:

/usr/sausalito/sbin/cced.init restart

Finally we recommend you run "swatch", which is our Active Monitor component that monitors (and corrects) the state of all services and makes sure everything runs smoothly:

/usr/sbin/swatch

At this stage everything should be working fine. Please point your browser to the IP or hostname of your server and you should be greeted by the Aventurin{e} 6109R GUI login screen.

Web Based Initial Setup

The Aventurin{e} GUI runs on port 444 (HTTP) and port 81 (HTTPS). If accessed at port 80 or 443 it will redirect to either the HTTP or HTTPS version on port 443 and 81. When you connect to the GUI for the first time, you will be asked for a username and password.

The GUI username is "admin" and the password is "aventurine".

Language Selection

Past the login screen the web based setup wizard presents you with the language selection screen. At this time only English is supported, but we're soon adding support for German, French, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Portuguese and Japanese as well. So just click on the "Next" button to proceed.

License Agreement

A bit of legalese follows. Nobody reads that, right? So you can simply scroll down to the bottom of the screen and select "I agree" and then press the "Next" button.

System Settings

This GUI page allows you to set the host- and domain name and you can also finalize the network settings. If you need IPv6 access and got here via IPv4, then you can now simply cut and paste the long IPv6 access details to have them configured as well.

More importantly: You can set an "admin" password of your choice. This very same password will also be applied to the "root" user. But please recall: Only "admin" can login to the GUI, not user "root".

Lastly you can configure the date and timezone of your server and once you hit the "Next" button for a final time the initial web based setup of your Aventurin{e} 6109R has been completed.

Congratulations!

This is the landing page once you're in the GUI interface and you can start to explore the available options.
