Aventurin{e} 6108R development started

Aventurin{e} 6106R is still using the Sausalito GUI and would benefit from inheriting the now very stable Chorizo GUI from our sister project BlueOnyx. Hence we launched the development of Aventurin{e} 6108R today.

Aventurin{e} 6108R will be Aventurin{e} 6106R with the new "Chorizo" GUI from the BlueOnyx 5208R series of our sister project. The goal is to port all 5208R improvements and especially the new GUI over to the SL 6 based Aventurin{e}.

This should allow us to provide Aventurin{e} not only with a more modern, but also more responsive GUI. At the same time we will overhaul and modernize many of the underlying mechanisms of Aventurin{e} to lay the groundwork for another 10 years of usage.

Once Aventurin{e} 6108R is ready for release it will be possible to YUM update existing 6106R installs to 6108R. A procedure for that will be provided.

While we set our sight on Aventurin{e} 6108R we also oogle the development of Aventurin{e} 6109R on CentOS 7 with OpenVZ 7 as virtualization mechanism. The design of 6108R will already take precautions to make porting the code base to the future CentOS 7 based Aventurin{e} 6109R rather easy. Aventurin{e} 6109R should become available in the fourth quarter of 2016 and 6108R will be released end of 2nd quarter of 2016.
